Trip Overview
The Everest Base Camp trek is one of the most iconic and popular trekking routes in the world, located in the eastern region of Nepal within the Sagarmatha National Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This unforgettable adventure leads you to the base of Mount Everest (8,848.86 m), offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks, dramatic landscapes, and a deep dive into Sherpa culture.
The trek begins with a thrilling 40-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, and during peak season, like October-November and April-May, you will mostly take a flight from Manthali airport or, optionally, a challenging 12–18 hour jeep ride to Surke for those seeking ground transportation. From Lukla, the well-marked trail winds through traditional Sherpa villages, high-altitude forests, and across thrilling suspension bridges.
Along the way, you’ll visit famous spots like Namche Bazaar, which is the gateway of the Everest Base Camp Trek, and Tengboche Monastery—the largest Buddhist monastery in the region—and enjoy acclimatisation days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche to help adjust your body to the altitude. The trek’s highest point is Kala Patthar (5,550 m), from where you'll witness panoramic views of Everest and surrounding Himalayan giants.
Everest Base Camp trekking is suitable for anyone with a good fitness level and a passion for adventure. More than just a physical journey, it’s a cultural experience filled with local hospitality, ancient Buddhist monasteries, colourful prayer flags, and sacred stupas. Experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; whether you're an experienced trekker or a first-time visitor to the Himalayas, Ascent Adventures Nepal will help you make your trek truly memorable.
Sherpa people and mountain views
Sherpas are one of the biggest highlights of the Everest region. They are an indigenous community of the Khumbu region and are known for their endurance and climbing skills. The trail to Everest base camp goes through the beautiful Sherpa villages, and you will get an opportunity to interact with locals and experience their culture, tradition, and lifestyle.
During this trek you will be seeing numerous iconic mountain views, including four mountains above eight thousand meters, such as Mount Everest (8,848 m/29,032 ft), Lhotse (8,516 m/27,940 ft), Makalu (8,585 m/28,169 ft), and Cho Oyu (8,188 m/26,864 ft), and many other popular peaks like Island Peak (6,189 m/20,305 ft), Labuche Peak (6,119 m/20,075 ft), Mera Peak (6,476 m/21,247 ft), Thamserku (6,608 m/21,680 ft), Ama Dablam (6,812 m/22,349 ft), Mount Pumori (7165 m) and many other surrounding mountains.
